Aquilla WWTP Improvement Project

FUNDING: Ohio HB 168 funds, Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC), Geauga County ARPA funding, and GCDWR capital improvements funding.

SCOPE OF PROJECT: The project includes, but is not limited to; the removal, dewatering and disposal of sludge, the replacement of the existing lagoon liners, the replacement of existing system valves, replacement of effluent disinfection, addition of an effluent flow meter, replacement of overland flow above-grade piping, valves and supports and associated electrical work.

McFarland Creek WWTP Renovation & Upgrade

ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COST: $35,000,000

CONSULTING ENGINEER: HDR Engineering Inc.

CONTRACTOR: TBD

FUNDING: OWDA Planning Loan $997,459 and FY22 EPA-STAG Grant $800,00.00. The Department is requesting ARPA funds from the County Commissioners. Project is listed in the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund Program Year 2023 Final Program Management Plan for $20,000,000. The County is pursuing FY2024 Federal Funds to apply to construction costs.

SCOPE OF PROJECT: The McFarland WWTP is currently under an Administrative Order on Consent with the U.S. EPA Region 5 requiring the County to improve the plant operations in order to meet the NPDES permit requirements and halt bypassing. The renovation and upgrade will include new headworks, oxidation ditches, clarifiers, and disc filters. The current and revised deadline to complete this is 12/31/2024. Once the final engineering design is complete and approved by regulatory agencies, the construction project will go out for bid. We expect to begin work in mid-2023.

Services Center Water System Upgrade

FUNDING: FY2023 Federal Community Project Funding via Rep Dave Joyce, Geauga County ARPA funding, and GCDWR County Water System Fund.

SCOPE OF PROJECT: Provide a 50,000-gallon water storage tank, two high service pumps, required controls, ancillary piping/valves, and a generator. This will provide an emergency water supply if the water tower goes offline and will ensure safe drinking water to a myriad of County Offices and Agencies in the County Services Center area. Moreover, this system is a backup supply to the University Hospital’s Geauga campus
